Curriculum and Application Requirements

MA Curriculum

The Developmental Psychology program offers two M.A. plans of study:

  • Plan A is recommended for students who plan to pursue a Ph.D. and/or who wish to complete an independent research project (the thesis). This plan requires completion of a minimum of 31 credit hours. Students seeking this degree complete a thesis project (six credit hours) under the supervision of a faculty mentor.
  • Plan B is recommended for students who plan to seek employment in an applied setting and who do not plan to pursue a Ph.D. This plan requires completion of a minimum of 37 credit hours, including nine hours of elective courses. Students seeking this degree must also complete two applied practica (six credit hours).

MA Application Requirements

  • Online Application
  • One official copy of transcripts for ALL institutions previously attended
  • Due to COVID-19, the reporting of GRE scores is OPTIONAL for those applying to our programs. All applications will be reviewed whether or not GRE scores are included.
  • Application Fee
  • Minimum GPA of at least 3.0 in undergraduate courses related to proposed major
  • If English is not the language of nurture, official test scores from the TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE exam are required
    • 550 on the written (pBT) TOEFL
    • 80 on the internet-based (iBT) TOEFL
    • 6.5 on the IELTS
    • or 53 on the PTE
