All new curriculum proposals and changes in syllabi must be submitted for review and approval to Academic Affairs.

New Course Proposals and Course Changes

Submitted through CIM-Course following the CIM-Course guidelines. Education Policy Advisory Committee (EPAC) is the final campus approval for all courses. Deadline for submitting courses for EPAC consideration is April 15th.

Minor/Minimal Change of Existing New Course or Major/Significant Change of Existing Provisional Approval

Does not require campus committee review:

  • Discontinuation of a course
  • Crossing listing of courses between two or more departments for programs
  • Renumbering a course that does not involve changing its level
  • Change in title
  • Change in prerequisites
  • Rewording for catalog description
  • Minor changes in the organization of a course or the routine updating of content
  • Establish a new course.
  • Change the level of an existing course (e.g. 3000 to 4000 level).
  • Change the number of credit hours of an existing course.
  • Significant change of objectives or content.

Note: Some changes may require HLC review.

Proposals reviewed by curriculum committees at the department/school, college, Courses, Programs & Evaluation Committee (if Grad), and campus levels.

EPAC recommendations are published in the EPAC meeting minutes.

If the potential for duplication or cross-listing exists, approval will be required in CIM-Course from the appropriate department chair/school director.

Provisional approval for one semester can be requested at Curriculum@unomaha.edu to enable a course to be listed on the class schedule for one semester while it completes the review process.

We’ve moved all topic-specific workflows into a Process Workflows folder on the All Faculty Resources SharePoint to keep everything organized.
