Student Outcomes

  3. Student Outcomes

Relevant. Coherent. Integrated

MavEd strengthens every learner with the tools, confidence, and adaptability needed to contribute meaningfully to their careers, communities, and lives. Individual-level outcomes: transferable skills (critical thinking, data literacy, intercultural awareness), experience, opportunities, personal growth, community engagement.

Transferable Skills for Life

At the heart of MavEd are skills that last well beyond graduation. Students practice critical thinking, data literacy, written and oral communication, and intercultural awareness in every general education course. These transferable abilities prepare graduates not only for their first job, but for lifelong adaptability in an ever-changing world.

Meaningful Learning Experiences

Through enduring questions, signature assignments, and integrative learning, MavEd courses invite students to connect ideas across disciplines and apply them to real-world contexts. These experiences help students see how general education is not separate from their major, but part of a larger story of intellectual growth and personal discovery.

Personal Growth and Confidence

MavEd challenges students to reflect on who they are, what they value, and how they want to contribute. By engaging in projects that require problem solving, collaboration, and creativity, students gain confidence in their ability to navigate complexity and uncertainty.

Community Engagement and Responsibility

MavEd cultivates civic responsibility and community awareness. Students learn to consider diverse perspectives, grapple with ethical questions, and engage in projects that connect classroom learning to the needs of Omaha and beyond. These experiences prepare graduates to be not only successful professionals, but also active and thoughtful citizens.

Equity and Belonging

MavEd is designed to ensure that every student has access to high-impact learning opportunities. By centering enduring questions, transferable skills, and reflective practices, MavEd creates space for students to see themselves in the curriculum and to engage with diverse perspectives. This intentional design helps close equity gaps, fosters inclusion, and strengthens students’ sense of belonging at UNO.

A Foundation for Future Success

By the time they graduate, MavEd equips students to articulate the skills, experiences, and perspectives they have gained. Having practiced and reflected on their learning along the way, students learn to connect their coursework to personal goals, professional aspirations, and civic responsibilities. They leave UNO with both a clear record of their growth and the confidence to apply these lessons as lifelong learners.
