MavEd Vision

  1. UNO
  2. General Education
  3. MavEd Vision

Relevant. Coherent. Integrated.

MavEd is UNO’s commitment to a transformative general education. Our vision is to connect students, faculty, staff, and the broader community through an education that is relevant, coherent, and purposeful.

We believe every student should graduate with the skills and perspectives needed to thrive in a complex world: the ability to think critically, integrate knowledge across disciplines, communicate effectively, and engage responsibly with diverse communities through reflection and action.

MavEd also envisions a campus where faculty and staff are supported to innovate, collaborate, and grow together, creating a culture where teaching and learning are dynamic and connected. Advisors, instructors, and staff share a common purpose: guiding students to see how general education strengthens their lives, careers, and civic engagement.

Beyond campus, MavEd strengthens our role as a metropolitan university. It prepares graduates who contribute to Omaha and beyond — professionals who adapt to changing workforce needs, citizens who engage thoughtfully in community life, and individuals who pursue meaning and purpose throughout their lives.

Our vision is simple but ambitious: general education at UNO is not a hurdle to overcome, but a foundation that empowers students, enriches our campus, and benefits the communities we serve. As MavEd grows, UNO will continue to adapt, ensuring that general education remains meaningful in a changing world.
