Program Educational Objectives and Student Outcomes

The Bachelor of Science in Management Information Systems program is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission (CAC) of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).

In November 2007, the ISQA faculty unanimously approved the Program Educational Objectives and Student Outcomes. These objectives and outcomes were most recently revised on March 5, 2021.

Program educational objectives (left column) describe the career and professional accomplishments that the program is preparing graduates to achieve.

Student outcomes (right column) describe what students are expected to know and be able to do by the time of graduation.

Program Educational Objectives

In the years following graduation,
graduates of the program will:

ABET Student Outcomes

Graduates of the program will have an ability to:

(a): Apply best practices in the development and use of information systems to solve real-world problems, enable organizations to meet the opportunities and challenges of a digital economy, and improve the lives of people, communities, and societies.

  1. Analyze a complex computing problem and to apply principles of computing and other relevant disciplines to identify solutions.
  2. Design, implement, and evaluate a computing-based solution to meet a given set of computing requirements in the context of the program’s discipline.

(b): Provide leadership in managing information systems in complex and changing organizational environments

  1. Communicate effectively in a variety of professional contexts.
  2. Function effectively as a member or leader of a team engaged in activities appropriate to the program’s discipline.
  3. Support the delivery, use, and management of information systems within an information systems environment.

(c): Take professional responsibility for safeguarding systems and users.

(d): Harness data in an ethical manner to promote the greater good and help organizations achieve their objectives.

  1. Recognize professional responsibilities and make informed judgments in computing practice based on legal and ethical principles.

(d): Actively contribute to the profession through service, life-long learning, and support of diversity and inclusion in their organizations.
