ASTORIA, NEW YORK (October 2021)

Dr. Kristín Jónína Taylor, Keyboard Area Coordinator and Assistant Professor of Piano in the UNO School of Music, has been inducted into the Steinway & Sons Teacher Hall of Fame, a prestigious designation recognizing the work of North America’s most committed and passionate piano educators.

Dr. Taylor is included in the second class of honorees, following the Hall of Fame’s inaugural class in 2019. She has been enthusiastically received for her performances of Nordic piano works, including the North American premiere of Jón Nordal’s Piano Concerto in 2003 and programs by invitation in Washington D.C. for the Ambassador of Iceland and President Vigdís Finnbogadóttir. She has performed widely in the U.S. as well as in Iceland, France, the Czech Republic, Belgium, Sweden, and Austria.

Only 44 teachers from the United States and Canada were inducted into the Steinway Teacher Hall of Fame this fall, with special events hosted at the historic Steinway factory in New York City. The teachers’ names are now displayed on a commemorative display wall inside the iconic factory.

Gavin English, President of Steinway & Sons Americas, says, “We are very proud to work with the talented music educators inducted this fall. . .These teachers foster passion, creativity, and discipline in the next generation of piano artists. Their work deserves the highest praise.”
