Art Club

UNO Art Club creates long-lasting connections by participating in and facilitating community outreach, studio activities, and professional practices. Our goal is to provide a diverse experience and network for student artists which will prepare them for future careers. All currently enrolled UNO students can join. Membership fees vary from semester to semester.

The UNO Art Club has been involved in a variety of experiences and activities, including art sales during special UNO Art Gallery events; workshops; making Valentine’s cards in the letterpress studio; teaching members to write a resume; movie nights, parties, and potlucks; field trips; scheduled Art Club exhibitions in the Hexagon Gallery, which teach how to prepare and exhibit an entire show; and sponsorships for art students to attend a Frogman’s workshop in the summer, which engages students in the larger art community in Omaha and beyond.

How to Join UNO Art Club

To join the Art Club at UNO, contact an officer through unoartclub@gmail.com, or faculty advisor Amy Haney at ahaney@unomaha.edu. You can also DM @theunoartclub on Instagram.

Study Abroad

Art and Art History at UNO gives students the opportunity to expand their horizons internationally with Study Abroad trips. Students must be enrolled in the connected class to participate. There are both regular and unique study abroad opportunities available, including Italy, Germany, and Japan – check with your professor and/or from the full list of UNO program options. Other faculty international trips have included Italy, Germany, and Japan.

Experiencing art firsthand is an immersive opportunity which strengthens empathy and understanding of other people and cultures. Broaden your perspective!

London Study Abroad

Study abroad in England! The English Study Abroad opportunity typically occurs each spring and is connected to an Art History course. Students learn a survey of British Art and after the semester is over, travel to London to see the artwork discussed in class. Highlights include:

  • British Museum
  • National Gallery of Art
  • Tate Modern
  • Victoria and Albert Museum
  • Strawberry Hill House
  • Side trips to Bath, Stonehenge, and Windsor

For information about the London Study Abroad program, contact Dr. Amy Morris at ammorris@unomaha.edu
