Alumni & Student Stories

Most of our students are juggling jobs, families and full personal lives. With flexible evening classes (in person and online), the program allows you to progress in your career while pursuing your MBA. Here's what a few of our students and alumni have to say about their MBA experience.

James Eldridge, MBA ‘15
Second Lieutenant, United States Marine Corps

“My experience at UNO taught me to have the mindset of a professional leader. It taught me to think outside of the box and to consider unique solutions to complex problems.”

James Eldridge commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in August 2018 and finishes intermediate officer training in March 2019.

Jorge Sotolongo, MBA ‘17
Commercial Real Estate Broker at NAI NP Dodge

“I received a BA from Saint Louis University in Biology and French. In other words, I had zero business experience and never took a business class. The MBA served as an immersive, fast-paced way for me to take my career in a different direction. My MBA experience taught me to take chances and remain confident in myself. I have no doubt that my current job is the result of that.”

Jorge Sotolongo

Jorge finished his MBA coursework in Innsbruck, Austria.

Morgan Stepp, MBA '18
Graduate Assistant

"I chose to pursue my MBA at UNO because of the incredible commitment and support of the faculty. My professors have gone above and beyond to fit my individual and professional needs. This journey has provided me with countless opportunities, and I couldn’t be happier with my decision to study at the College of Business."

Morgan Stepp

Morgan was a member of UNO Swimming as an undergraduate.

Nicole (Higgins) Cooper, MBA ‘16
Army National Guard Veteran / Accountant at Burlington Capital

“I chose an MBA because I wanted to be well-rounded. It’s been a really valuable experience. The curriculum is varied. Professors are amazing and invested.”

Nicole Cooper

Nicole finished her MBA in a record two semesters.

Evan Porter, MBA ‘16
Head Baseball Coach at UNO

Evan Porter’s experience as an undergraduate student at the UNO College of Business Administration, along with the life experience of living abroad, prompted him to pursue an MBA. Much of what he learned about leadership and organizational culture as an MBA student is resonating now that he’s a head coach, he said. Porter also loves bringing recruits to Mammel Hall.

“It’s easy to talk about how great all the professors were for me and how much I’ve taken away from my business college experience here. It has a special place in my heart.”

Evan Porter

Evan calls his role leading UNO Baseball his dream job.
