Dual Degree Master’s programs allow students to pursue degrees concurrently in two fields of study. To obtain a dual degree, the student must satisfy the admission, course, and examination requirements of both programs. Requirements for dual degrees vary by program, but generally students take the MBA core courses and then complete the degree requirements for the other graduate program. Separate applications may be required.
In today's context of a globally integrated and interdependent businesses, ubiquitous information technologies, and mobile workforce, it is critical that graduate education provide students opportunities to develop integrated business and technology skills. Thus, the primary purpose of this dual degree program is to provide this integration by enabling students to complete the MBA and the MS in MIS degrees simultaneously. This track is designed for dedicated students who are willing to take on the challenges related to graduate education from two perspectives - Business Administration and Management Information Systems.
The Master of Business Administration and Master of Public Health Dual Degree program (MBA - MPH) is designed for students who desire specialized expertise and training in public health management and administration. Graduates will be equipped to work in a variety of public interest arenas, commercial or industrial employment, hospitals or insurance settings, or in universities.
The Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Pharmacy (MBA-PharmD) dual degree program provides students with the knowledge, tools, and skills to enhance their pharmacy and business practices. This program is designed to train students who wish the strengthen their business skills to serve them in any pharmacy setting. Students must be accepted into the PharmD program prior to applying for the dual degree MBA program.
Over the past 30 years, the largest area of job growth for biomedical Ph.D.’s has been in the private sector with positions in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, and other industries. Many of these jobs have business elements. However, the traditional training of a biomedical Ph.D. focuses on research and has no business training. This certificate program provides a basic understanding of business principles to biomedical Ph.D. students.
With a certificate program, it is possible for students to obtain a basic understanding of business principles that is documented by a certificate program. This certificate will make their application for a variety of job positions more competitive and make them more successful in their careers.
In conjunction with the Department of Psychology and the School of Communication, the College of Business Administration is offering a Certificate in Human Resources and Training. The HR & T Certificate is useful for individuals currently employed in the Human Resources or Training fields and for individuals who desire to enter those fields. The graduate courses required for this certificate address both theory and application from the fields of Communication, Psychology, and Business.
Graduate students may complete a graduate minor in Business Administration. The minor requires the approval of the MBA Director, completion of the MBA Foundation courses, and completion of nine (9) graduate credit hours of BSAD courses, at least six of which are in BSAD courses open only to graduate students, excluding courses which are Foundation courses for any degree program.
