In the College of Arts and Sciences, we believe the student/advisor partnership is vital to success.

Setting Up Your English Advisor

If you are undeclared or have fewer than 27 hours:
  • You will need to meet with an Arts and Sciences Advising Center Advisor.
If you are a declared English major with 27 or more hours:
  • To begin the process of being assigned an English advisor, please contact our Department Coordinator, Dustin Pendley. You can reach him by email, dpendley@unomaha.edu or phone, 402.554.3476.
If you are a declared English minor:
  • Please contact our Department Coordinator, Dustin Pendley. You can reach him by email, dpendley@unomaha.edu, or phone, 402.554.3476.

Meeting with Your English Advisor

Declared English majors with 27 or more hours are assigned a faculty member from the Department of English for advising, either Dr. Lisabeth Buchelt (lbuchelt@unomaha.edu) or Dr. Chuck Johanningsmeier (jmeier@unomaha.edu). Dr. Buchelt and Dr. Johanningsmier are here not only to help you plan your schedule, but also answer questions about:

  • Programs of study
  • Study abroad options
  • Career options
  • Graduate and professional school

Schedule an appointment with your assigned English advisor using MavCONNECT.

Planning Your Next Classes

As a current UNO student, you have access to Degree Works, a useful tool for strategizing what classes to take next.
