Meet Maida

Maida is a provisionally licensed mental health provider as well as a licensed social worker. Maida earned her Master of Social work and Master of Public Administrator in 2020 here at UNO. Her previous education also includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from UNO in 2011. Maida has worked in CAPS since the spring of 2021. She has previous experience working with individuals through mental health services in outpatient and day treatment settings as well as in residential disability rehabilitation centers. 

Maida is trained to serve diverse populations using a strengths-based approach with multiple intervention approaches including cognitive behavioral therapy and narrative therapy. She is particularly passionate about serving immigrant populations, current and future healthcare and human service workers, as well as individuals experiencing chronic health conditions and disabilities. Maida is also the Suicide Prevention and Education Coordinator at CAPS. In this role, she serves the UNO, UNMC, and  Metropolitan Community College campus communities in prevention and education efforts to reduce the incidence of suicide and provision of support to survivors of suicide. 

In her free time, Maida enjoys the outdoors, especially warm weather activities such as swimming and long walks, live concerts, musicals, and practicing yoga. She also loves dogs and feels passionate about their therapeutic potential in people’s lives. Maida is an immigrant from Bosnia and enjoys learning about and spending time with diverse immigrant communities in the Omaha area.
