CAPS Commitment

  1. UNO
  2. Counseling and Psychological Services
  3. About Us
  4. CAPS Commitment

CAPS is committed to providing a safe, respectful, and welcoming experience to ALL people who come through our doors.

On-Campus Support and Assistance

The counseling staff regularly attends trainings and workshops to commit to multicultural humility and growth. In addition, the staff serves on various committees on campus and trains others to promote a safe, accepting environment on UNO's campus and in the community.

We recognize that students, faculty, and staff come from intersecting identities that include their racial identity and ethnicity, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, country of origin, age, socio-economic status, body shape/size, ability, religion/spirituality, and opinion/point of view.

We also acknowledge the impact of natural disasters, racial and social injustice, and humanitarian crises around the world. These intense situations are often compounded by ongoing mental health symptoms, developmental stage, medical health, and other experiences.

Our staff strive to ensure each person we meet feels valued and appreciated for who they are and where they come from. We embrace UNO’s “culture of caring” and will continue to foster an inclusive and safe place for all UNO students and demonstrate our commitment to individual and collective mental health.
