About Amanda

Amanda Murtaugh joined the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) staff in November of 2018.

She received her M.A. in Mental Health Counseling from Boston College and is now a Licensed Mental Health Practitioner (LMHP) in the state of Nebraska.  

Previously, she served the scholars in the Nebraska College Preparatory Academy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and has a passion for working with first generation students and people encountering life transitions.  

She gravitates toward a strengths-based approach to counseling and strives to empower her clients. Amanda has experience working with a variety of topics, including anxiety, depression, career exploration, grief, and trauma. She also very much enjoys working with people navigating their relationships and has completed Level 1 and Level 2 Gottman Method Couples Therapy training.

Amanda enjoys the wonders of travel and values relationships close to home. She loves music, nature, good food, and time with family and friends.
