Biography

Amanda Buker is the Director of Sponsored Programs at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, a position she has held since February 2023. With over 11 years of dedicated service at UNO, Amanda has demonstrated a long-standing commitment to the university.

Amanda began her career at UNO in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences (CEHHS), where she worked for the first five years. During this time, she served as the Office Manager and Assistant to the Director of the School of Health & Kinesiology and later as the Assistant Business Manager in the CEHHS Dean’s Office. In February 2018, Amanda transitioned to the Office of Sponsored Programs, where she has played a crucial role in the university’s research administration efforts.

As Director, Amanda oversees all aspects of sponsored research, from proposal preparation to award closeout and audit. As an authorized official for UNO, she ensures compliance with federal, state, and agency regulations through the management of sponsored project grants, agreements, and contracts. Amanda is also dedicated to advancing campus-wide training for administrative support staff, faculty, and unit leaders and actively engages with campus stakeholders to support research and creative endeavors at UNO.

Amanda is a member of the Office of Research and Creative Activity (ORCA) leadership team, where she contributes to the development and implementation of institutional policies and procedures related to sponsored programs. Her role includes supporting ORCA’s mission and strategic initiatives, enhancing research and creative activities across the campus.
