  4. Strengths for Students

At the University of Nebraska at Omaha, the CliftonStrengths assessment is taken by a number of students each year who are involved in scholarship groups, student organizations, and more. This page provides some additional information about CliftonStrengths.

The CliftonStrengths Assessment from Gallup is a web-based personality assessment consisting of 177 items that will take around 30 minutes to complete.

  • Each item consists of a pair of potential self-descriptors, such as “I read instructions carefully” versus “I like to jump right into things.”
  • You are given 20 seconds to respond to each pair and asked to choose the descriptor that best describes you and to what extent on a continuum.

Students can ask their advisor in their scheduled appointments about using CliftonStrengths in course selection and building skills, such as time management, study strategies, and navigating academic challenges.

Career Development

Students will be able to attend a workshop that will explore how to develop their talents into strengths and apply them to career goals. Through discussion and interactive activities, participants will prepare their own CliftonStrengths-based development plan. Students who participate in the workshop will gain a greater understanding of their talents and explore how to use them in current and future career roles.
