UNO Women in Aviation Maverick Chapter

Each year, UNO’s Women in Aviation “Maverick” Chapter proudly supports and promotes the participation of women in the aviation industry, welcoming both male and female students pursuing majors or minors in aviation.

In 2025, 18 dedicated UNO students had the opportunity to attend the Women in Aviation International (WAI) conference in Denver, gaining invaluable experiences through networking, educational sessions, and industry engagement.

Our Mission

The Maverick Chapter is committed to increasing female involvement in aviation while actively contributing to the Omaha community. Members participate in a variety of outreach programs, including collaborations with the Boy and Girl Scouts, Explorers, the Offutt Air Show, Science Fun Nights at local elementary schools, and the Special Olympics.

Community Engagement

Through these partnerships, members inspire future generations of aviators and promote STEM education, while developing leadership and teamwork skills that prepare them for professional success.

Opportunities for Growth

Membership offers access to multiple opportunities, such as:

  • Attending Women in Aviation International conferences in cities like Denver, Reno, Chicago, Cincinnati, Dallas, and Orlando

  • Touring aviation facilities

  • Engaging with industry guest speakers

  • Networking with aviation professionals

Scholarships and Support

The Maverick Chapter also connects students with a variety of scholarships available at both the local and international levels, helping to financially support their academic and career goals.
