Students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Aviation with a concentration in Professional Flight actively engage in structured flight training as part of their degree.

Bachelor of Science in Aviation
The Professional Flight concentration is for students who are serious about becoming pilots. You’ll gain the flight experience, certifications, and academic foundation needed to launch a career in commercial or corporate aviation. With a focus on safety, responsibility, and industry professionalism, this program prepares you to fly turbine-powered aircraft and work as a First Officer.
What to Expect
This FAA-approved program leads to eligibility for the Restricted Airline Transport Pilot (R-ATP) certification. That means you can be hired by a Part 121 airline at age 21 with 1,000 flight hours instead of waiting until age 23 with 1,500 hours. It's a head start for students ready to move quickly and confidently into the industry.
R-ATP Coursework
R-ATP eligibility requires completion of core aviation academic courses, including:
-
Aerodynamics
-
Aircraft Systems
-
Human Factors
-
Air Traffic Control
-
Aviation Law and Regulations
-
Weather and Safety
Additional coursework in aviation history, airline operations, and airport management helps round out a well-prepared aviation graduate ready for the industry.
