General Information

Biography

Although I am originally from Connecticut, I have been in Nebraska for a while. I earned my undergraduate degree from Nebraska Wesleyan University, and my Master’s and PhD from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. I enjoy science communication in all its forms, from teaching to research talks. I have taught numerous undergraduate neuroscience courses, and have given dozens of research presentations across the United States and in Europe.

Teaching Interests

I enjoy teaching various aspects of the research process, such as study design, data analysis, and academic writing. I also like teaching neuroscience courses, regardless of academic level.

Research Interests

My research interests are how the immune system impacts neurodevelopment, as well as the consequences of injury that occurs during early life.

Service Summary

I have served on various committees, from program and course design to faculty search committees. I am currently a faculty ambassador for neuroscience with exploratory studies (2021-present).
