SoLaS Lab Students

We currently offer two ways to get involved in the lab:

Prospective Research Assistants

Join our team to support ongoing sociolinguistics and language-related projects.

RA positions are often paid, depending on funding availability.

Apply by email along with:
  1. a copy of your CV/Resume;

  2. a summary of relevant coursework (an unofficial transcript attachment is fine);

  3. a short statement of interest in linguistics, especially our focus areas (sociolinguistics; cross-linguistic or language-related studies); and

  4. the time commitment you can offer and your availability window (semester/term).

After you apply, Dr. Samejon will review your materials and get back to you if there’s a good fit.

Note: If you are a UNO student, you are typically enrolled in the Department of English internship program to be considered.

Prospective Research Interns (Volunteer)

We also welcome volunteer research interns. This position is open to UNO and non-UNO students, undergraduates and graduates.

Interns contribute to the lab community while gaining hands-on research experience.

Apply by email along with:
  1. a copy of your CV/Resume;

  2. a summary of relevant coursework (an unofficial transcript attachment is fine);

  3. a short statement of interest in linguistics, especially our focus areas (sociolinguistics; cross-linguistic or language-related studies); and

  4. the time commitment you can offer (minimum of 5 hours/week) and your availability window (semester/term).

After you apply, Dr. Samejon will review your materials and get back to you if there’s a good fit.

If applicable, note any independent or external funding (e.g., summer internship stipend, home-institution grant) and its required outputs/reporting so we can plan appropriate supervision and deliverables.
