Senior English major Cassandra Wade chose to pursue an internship with Blue Cross and Blue Shield last spring. She believes that Interning in the communications department at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska enabled her to grow both as a writer and as a person while earning credit towards her degree.

From writing articles for internal and external audiences to dipping a toe into the world of corporate social responsibility, BCBSNE provided her with numerous opportunities to build her portfolio, gain real-world experience, and learn from seasoned professionals. She is grateful to work for a company that not only believes in its interns and their ability to add value to the company, but one that also provides interns opportunities for personal growth through volunteer activities and career prep seminars.

She feels confident that the remaining time she spend as an intern at BCBSNE this year will positively affect her future career, and she is thankful to attend a university that values providing real-world experience to students so that knowledge learned in the classroom can be used as a springboard into their future careers.

If you are an English major and interested in signing up for ENGL 4800 Internship, please contact Internship Director, Dr. Joan Latchaw at jlatchaw@unomaha.edu.
