Mastering Academic Writing: Helping International Graduate Students Become Disciplinary Insiders
Milo Bail Student Center Council Room – Dr. Michelle Cox, Director of the English Language Support Office of the Knight Institute at Cornell University will be visiting UNO as part of the 11th Annual Language Teaching Colloquium.
Dr. Cox’s scholarship focuses on WAC theory and administration, graduate writing support, and second language writing. Her recent co-edited publications include: Supporting Graduate Writers: Research, Curriculum, and Program Design; Reinventing Identities in Second Language Writing; and a special issue of ATD WAC and Second Language Writing: Cross-Field Research, Theory, and Program Development. She has also published numerous chapters and articles on composition pedagogy, faculty development, WAC program administration, and second language writing. She serves on the editorial boards of the WAC Clearinghouse and is the founding co-chair of the Consortium for Graduate Communication.
Dr. Cox’s visit is sponsored by the Office of Graduate Studies, the Department of Foreign Languages, the UNO Writing Center, the Department of English, the English Dual Enrollment program, and International Program’s Intensive English programs.
