Biography

Jody Keisner's essays and stories have appeared in The Normal School, Fourth Genre, Cimarron Review, Post Road, Brevity, VIDA Review, So to Speak, Brain,Child, Assay, Hunger Mountain, The Threepenny Review, Women's Studies, and many other literary journals and magazines. Her work as co-editor for Isthmus (no. 6, Fall/Winter 2016, “Politics”) was recognized in the The Best American Essays 2018 as a Notable Special Issue. Her book Under My Bed and Other Essays is forthcoming from University of Nebraska Press, American Lives series, Fall 2022. A graduate of Wayne State (BA), University of Nebraska-Omaha (MA) and Western Michigan University (MFA), she is an Associate Professor at UNO, where she teaches creative nonfiction.

Teaching Interests

Creative Nonfiction and its many subgenres, including personal essay, memoir, segmented essay, multimodal essays, among others.

Form & Style in Creative Nonfiction, Autobiographical Reading and Writing, Modern Familiar Essay, Creative Nonfiction in Digital Environments, Research and Argument, Gender Identity in Personal Writing, Freelance Magazine Writing, Publishing Nonfiction, Writing the Female Body, Medical Humanities.
