Each year, Open Nebraska recognizes faculty and instructional teams who demonstrate leadership in reducing textbook costs while maintaining high-quality, student-centered learning.

Textbook Mavericks represent a wide range of disciplines and approaches, from fully open textbook adoptions to creative uses of library and open materials. What they share is a commitment to access, flexibility, and student success.


Featured Honorees Include:

Dr. Jaci Lindburg, Associate Vice Chancellor for Innovative and Learning-Centric Initiatives. Recognized as a 2025 Textbook Mavericks Honoree for leadership in advancing open education and systemwide collaboration.

Steffi Jesseau and Zach Suriano. Recognized as a Textbook Mavericks Honoree for contributions to affordable content adoption.

Greg Morin, Angelika Stout, and the lecturers of Marketing 3200: Business Communications.
Recognized as a 2023 Textbook Maericks Honoree for collaborative course redesign that reduced costs for a high-enrollment course.

Cameron Logsdon, Stephanie Larsen, and Abbie Syrek, School of Communication. Recognized as a 2021 Textbook Mavericks Honoree for innovative adoption of affordable course materials.
