NU Applied Research in Technology Lab
Partnering with faculty for enhanced research, knowledge building, and publication
University of Nebraska Information Technology Services (NU ITS) supports enterprise tools across our divisions to secure, support and empower members of the NU community in doing their work effectively and efficiently. The enterprise environments supported by NU ITS - particularly in the areas of cybersecurity and academic technology – provide a rich set of data in which faculty experts can conduct applied research studies that would serve to inform our campus communities and also be appropriate for broader academic publication or external funding proposals.
By partnering with faculty members who share research interests in cybersecurity and teaching with technology, NU ITS and the NU Office of Digital Education launched the Applied Research in Technology Lab in 2021 to link faculty researchers to these data-rich environments for specific research studies. Not only do these studies help to advance a faculty member’s research trajectory, but these studies may also provide an additional lens to help inform the University of Nebraska, NU ITS, and the NU Office of Digital Education of key themes and findings related to our cybersecurity posture and digital learning environment that could assist with our commitment to continual improvement, exceptional services, and ultimately student success in new ways.
A small number of funded research opportunities are available each year. If UNO faculty members are interested in learning more or proposing a specific study, please contact Dr. Dan Hawkins (dhawkins@unomaha.edu), UNO’s Director of Online Development, for more information.
