Jim Palensky has served as an adjunct instructor in Fire Service Management at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) for 14 years, where he educates and mentors future public safety professionals.
He brings over 25 years of distinguished service with the Omaha Fire Department, with extensive experience in training, leadership, and special operations. His roles have included serving as a DrillMaster in the Training Division for seven years, contributing to firefighter training and operational readiness, as well as ten years as a Captain, leading personnel in high-pressure emergency response environments. He also served for four years as the Special Operations Program Coordinator, overseeing specialized response initiatives and advanced operational programs.
In addition to his professional career, Jim holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science from UNO. He has also contributed to education and community development as an assistant baseball coach at UNO for five years and as a certified substitute teacher in Nebraska for seven years.
