Public Management
The Public Management concentration provides students with knowledge, skills, and competencies that can be applied broadly in administrative leadership positions across government, nonprofit, and private sectors. Essential management concepts related to budgeting and human resources management are included. In addition, this versatile concentration allows students to choose between a wide range of elective courses to tailor it to their individual interests.

In addition to the core courses required of all MPA students, those students who select the public management concentration are required to take the following two courses:
Public Administration
- PA 8410 | Public Human Resources Management
- PA 8600 | Administrative Law
- The third class can be selected from the following:
- PA 8566 | Intergovernmental Management
- PA 8110 | Information Management
- PA 8470 | Administrative Ethics
- PA 8450 | Advanced Management Analysis
Students in the concentration will select additional electives based on areas of interest. Possible electives are not limited to but can include additional graduate courses in aviation, public administration, urban studies, or emergency management. Students work with their advisors on selecting electives that best meets their career and academic goals.
