Bio
Roger was born to immigrant parents from Honduras and Mexico and grew up primarily in Columbus, Nebraska. Since moving to Omaha for his studies in 2005, he has extensively engaged in the community, co-founding the Metro Young Latino Professionals Association and serving on many nonprofit boards such as the Immigrant Legal Center and the Women’s Center for Advancement. For his involvement, Roger previously received the Ten Outstanding Young Omahans (TOYO) award. He has been working in the nonprofit sector for 20 years, previously serving as executive director of El Centro de las Americas and Centro Latino of Iowa. Roger also serves the community through elected office, previously serving on the Metro Community College Board of Governors and now serving as County Commissioner in Douglas County, Nebraska. He is currently in his 4th year as a PhD student in public administration with research interest in municipal and nonprofit governance and leadership.Education
