Alumni UpdateMa earned Ph.D. from the program in 2002. He is a Professor in the School of Government at Sun Yat-sen University (P. R. China), and served as the Dean of the school from 2009 to 2013. He has been the director of the Center for Chinese Public Administration Research of Sun Yat-sen University since 2006. His research interests lie in public administration, public budgeting and financial management, administrative and fiscal history, fiscal sociology, and state building. He published in Chinese journals such as Economic Studies, Sociology Studies, Politics Studies, and Chinese Social Science. Also, his researches appear in journals such as Public Administration Review, Crime, Law and Social Changes, Administrative Theory & Praxis, Australia Journal of Public Administration, Public Administration & Development, Journal of Public Budgeting, Accounting, and Financial Management, International Review of Administrative Science, Korean Policies Studies, China Review. He serves as the chief-editor of The Journal of Public Administration (Chinese), and also serves in the editor board or advisory board of Public Budgeting and Finance (USA), Australia Journal of Public Administration, Public Administration & Development (UK), and French Public Finance Review (France), Chinese Public Administration (China).
