Catherine Humphries Brown, Ph.D., is Director of Data and Research at the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation, a public foundation founded in 1997 whose mission is to create positive change for Nebraska’s children through community engagement. She brings 15 years of combined experience in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors— as well as advanced degrees in Anthropology, International Relations, and National Security. Her prior work experience includes time with The Smithsonian Institution, The Brookings Institution, and the Government Accountability Office (GAO). She has also been active in Nebraska, supporting the university in its engagement with the state legislature and working with Omaha-based nonprofit organizations. Academically, Dr. Brown’s research interests lie at the intersection of democracy, policy, and the nonprofit sector. These interests build on her dissertation work, which examined foundation-funded nonprofit capacity building programs in the United States.
