UNO's Women in Aviation Maverick Chapter
Each year, the University of Nebraska at Omaha’s Women in Aviation “Maverick” Chapter proudly supports and promotes the participation of women in the aviation industry, welcoming all students—both male and female—pursuing aviation majors or minors. In 2025, eighteen dedicated members attended the Women in Aviation International Conference in Denver, where they gained valuable experiences through networking, professional development sessions, and engagement with industry leaders.
The Maverick Chapter is deeply committed to increasing female representation in aviation while giving back to the Omaha community. Members participate in outreach events such as collaborations with the Boy and Girl Scouts, the Offutt Air Show, Science Fun Nights, and the Special Olympics. These experiences allow students to inspire future generations, promote STEM education, and develop leadership and teamwork skills essential for professional success. The organization also provides valuable growth opportunities, including access to national conferences, industry tours, guest speakers, and networking events. Additionally, members are connected with a wide range of local and international scholarships to support their educational and career goals. Students passionate about aviation and diversity are encouraged to join the Maverick Chapter and become part of a supportive community dedicated to empowering future leaders in the industry.
