Biography

Haoruo Fu earned his Bachelor’s degree in Aeronautical Science and Master’s degree in Applied Aviation Safety from the Florida Institute of Technology. He earned his Ph.D. at Purdue University in the School of Aviation and Transportation Technology.

His research spans multiple disciplines, combining geospatial information systems (GIS) and systems risk analysis to address complex issues in aviation safety. His work includes the analysis of wildlife hazards at airports, airport operational safety, and broader transportation risk modeling.

Dr. Fu is a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), the University Aviation Association (UAA), and the American Association of Geographers (AAG). Overall, his work aims to enhance the safety, resilience, and efficiency of aviation and emerging transportation systems through innovative, data-driven approaches. He teaches course related to UAS operation and capstone research projects.

Research Interests: Aviation safety, geospatial data analysis, risk analysis, wildlife hazard management

Biography
