Speech-Language Pathology at UNO

Prepare for a rewarding career as a Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) through the University of Nebraska Omaha’s nationally accredited Master of Science in Speech-Language Pathology program. Designed to meet the needs of today’s healthcare and educational environments, the program combines rigorous academic preparation with extensive supervised clinical experiences.

At UNO, you’ll develop the knowledge and clinical skills to evaluate, diagnose, and treat communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan. Through hands-on clinical experiences in our onsite clinic, community schools, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, and community-based settings, you’ll learn to provide evidence-based, person-centered care while working collaboratively with clients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.

Speech-language pathology is a diverse and rapidly growing profession. Speech-language pathologists work with infants, children, adolescents, adults, and older adults who experience challenges with speech, language, literacy, cognitive communication, social communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing. SLPs help individuals improve communication, maximize independence, and enhance their quality of life in educational, healthcare, and community settings.

Graduates of UNO’s program are well prepared to pursue professional certification through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), state licensure, and rewarding careers in schools, medical facilities, rehabilitation centers, early intervention programs, private practice, and other community-based settings.
