The early childhood inclusive education major is designed for students seeking Nebraska certification to teach in Birth-3 or age 3 through third grade in elementary schools. This major allows students to learn more about early childhood education policy, social-cultural understanding and the well being of infants and toddlers.
Admission Requirements
Prospective first-year students meeting the "Assured" admission status may apply for admission to the College of Education as a pre-education major by indicating their preference on the Application for Admission.
Prospective transfer students with a cumulative GPA of 2.50 may apply for admission to the College of Education as a pre-education major by indicating their preference on the Application for Admission.
Students prepared for formal admission to educator preparation program must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.

Field Experiences
All candidates must meet the College of Education requirements for classroom practicums prior to clinical practice (student teaching). The practicum experiences are embedded in identified professional courses. Learn more

Accreditation and Certification
The Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Inclusive Education (BECI) is accredited by the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP) and approved by the Nebraska State Department of Education. To be formally accepted into the Educator Preparation program, candidates must pass the Praxis Core tests in reading (state benchmark of 156), writing (state benchmark of 163), and math (state benchmark of 150).

The BSED degree in Early Childhood Inclusive Education allows UNO to recommend graduates for Nebraska licensure (B-3 or PK – 3). In addition, candidates must pass the Praxis II – (insert test info here) with a score of 153 or higher to meet state licensure requirements.
