Operations Manager

Dr. Jesse McBee is a jazz trumpet player currently based in Omaha, NE. He graduated from West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies, the University of Louisville with a Master of Music in Jazz Performance and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Doctor of Musical Arts. He is currently an Instructor of Jazz Trumpet at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Prior to this, he has served on faculties at West Virginia University, Iowa Western Community College, Wayne State College, and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He has shared the stage with Jamey Aebersold, Aloe Blacc, Roger Humphries, The Temptations, The Four Tops and Victor Lewis, among others. He continues to work as a performer and educator throughout the Midwest. He has also had the opportunity to perform and present at the Jazz Education Network Conference, the Nebraska Music Education Association Conference, the Nebraska Bandmaster’s Association Conference and the International Society for Improvised Music Conference, and has served as an adjudicator for the National Trumpet Competition Jazz Division. 

Responsibilities

• Schedule rooms, oversee events, and maintain the calendar of the Strauss Performing Arts Center.

• Liaise with Facilities, Public Safety, and Custodial Services regarding building needs and concerns.

• Maintain key and card access to Strauss Performing Arts Center, and troubleshoot issues with Access Control as needed.

• Coordinate event and guest parking with Parking Services, CEC, and Baxter Arena.

• Train, schedule, and supervise a student worker team to ensure the School of Music is represented in the highest professional manner.

• Work with internal and external clients to book facility rentals and manage all events in the Strauss Performing Arts Center.

• Publicize School of Music events through programs, website and Localist updates, and other communications in collaboration with University Marketing & Communications.

• Along with the Coordinator of Music Technology and Music Program Manager, schedule music tech and recording spaces.

• Troubleshoot logistical issues and solve problems in regards to space and venue to provide excellent customer service to patrons.

• Coordinate with Recital Coordinator to schedule all SoM student recitals, upload press kits, and print recital programs.

• Serve on UNO Safety Committee
