Biography

Mark Irvin is a music educator, singer/songwriter, recording artist, and freelance musician from Omaha, Nebraska.

Mark was a self-taught musician out of high school and then spent most of the next decade (the 1980’s) working as a musician, both solo and with several bands. As part of the band Tight Fit, Mark was inducted into the Nebraska Music Hall of Fame in 2010. 

Mark entered college in 1989 at the University of Nebraska Omaha where he earned a BA in Music Education in 1994. In 2011 Mark received his Masters Degree in Education In Curriculum and Instruction from Doane University.

After a thirty-year career, Mark retired from teaching at the end 2022. His teaching career included 12 years as a high school band director and 18 as a middle school band director. Throughout his public school teaching career he directed concert, marching and jazz bands. He also taught guitar, World Music Drumming, songwriting and history of rock classes.

Along with performing live shows and studio work, Mark continues to work with middle schools, high schools and colleges/universities. He also remains active with clinics and directing honor bands.
