Biography

Dr. Malachi Million is an Adjunct Instructor at various universities and colleges in Nebraska. He is also an active performer/educator in Nebraska. Malachi has shared the stage with jazz innovators Dr. Victor Lewis, Donny McCaslin, Matt Wilson, and Pete McGuinness. He has performed with various groups in the Lincoln and Omaha area including The Lincoln Symphony Orchestra, Creighton University, Nebraska Wesleyan University Choirs, First Plymouth Congregational Church, and various Broadway Tours at the Orpheum . 

In June 2019, Malachi performed and taught with the Graduate Jazz Combo from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln at the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, Shenyang Conservatory of Music, and Beijing Contemporary Music Academy in China. While there, he conducted several masterclasses and workshops pertaining to guitar and the rhythm section. In May 2017, Malachi participated in the 11th Annual Bucharest International Jazz Competition with the Akakaze Quartet from the University of Arkansas. 

Malachi Million graduated with honors from Friends University where he earned a Bachelor of Music Performance degree. At Friends, he studied jazz guitar under Randy Zellers and classical guitar under Howard Glanton. Malachi attended graduate school at the University of Arkansas and earned a Master of Music Performance degree in guitar studying under Benjamin Harris and Dr. Jake Hertzog. He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Jazz Studies Performance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln studying under Dr. Peter Bouffard. 

He has experience playing with jazz ensembles, performing solo guitar in jazz and other styles, vocal jazz groups, jazz big bands, guitar ensembles, cover bands, metal bands, funk bands, blues bands, and worship music.
