Biography

Dalan Guthrie is the Director of Choral Activities and an Instructor of Music at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He earned a BM in Music Education and MM in Choral Conducting from Brigham Young University and a DMA in Choral Conducting from Michigan State University. Prior to his doctoral studies, Guthrie taught at Salem Junior High School whose choirs, under his direction, were selected for performances at the Utah Music Educator Association (2016, 2018), Utah-ACDA (2017,2018), and Western Division ACDA conferences (2019). In community ensembles, Guthrie has worked as a conductor of the Utah Collegiate Singers, an assistant director in the Lansing Arts Chorale, and the director of choirs at Lansing Central United Methodist Church.

As a professional Tenor, Guthrie has appeared as a guest soloist for the Lansing Symphony Orchestra and Michigan State University and is an active member of professional choral ensembles across the US. He is frequently sought as a clinician and recognized for his approaches to building tone and vocal health and has worked with choirs in the Middle School, High School, Collegiate and Professional levels.

When not engaged in choral music, Guthrie enjoys martial arts, a good game of chess, and spending time with his spouse and two young children.
