Biography

Chris Acker is a seasoned and versatile entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience as co-owner of Mixing Room Studios, a premier audio post-production facility utilized by ad agencies, production companies, and studios worldwide. In addition, Chris has spent the past 30+ years as a professional trombonist and owner/director of Extra Space Music, leading The Omaha Big Band, Extra Space Jazz, and Solid Brass Quartet. He’s also had the pleasure to have played with acclaimed groups and performers such as The Four Tops, The Temptations, Steve Allen, Rich Little, The Supremes, Lesley Gore, Lou Christie, Frankie Valli, and a host of others.

Since 2015, Chris has served not only as trombonist, but as contractor of local musicians for touring productions through Omaha Performing Arts. These include tours of Book of Mormon, Cinderella, Newsies, Phantom of the Opera, Beautiful, Something Rotten, Sound of Music, White Christmas, Little Mermaid, Wicked, Aladdin, Mean Girls, Ain’t Too Proud, MJ, and more. He's also contracted large orchestras for Final Fantasy/Distant Worlds, Eagles, Johnny Mathis, Amy Grant, Stardew Valley, and others.

Chris received a Bachelor of Music Education degree and also pursued a Master of Music Degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. He is proud of his accomplishments during his time as President of the Omaha Musicians Association and continues to be an involved member. Above all else, he enjoys life’s great experiences with his amazing wife Kristin and his sons Colin and Casey!
