He chose this major after realizing he lacked knowledge about Latin America and his own culture—an eye-opening moment that inspired him to learn more. Alvaro is grateful for the Completion Scholarship, which helped him stay focused and energized during his final semester. After graduation, he’s exploring various career possibilities. He’s currently interning at the Mexican Consulate, which has sparked his interest in government or international work. His goal is to find a meaningful job that lets him apply his education, possibly abroad.

He is passionate about helping people learn languages, inspired by his grandmother who moved to the U.S. without knowing English. Jordan sees language and literacy as vital tools for connection and belonging. As a transfer student, he chose LLS to explore his heritage and better understand the people he hopes to serve. His studies deepened his appreciation for cultural diversity and historical context. After graduation, he plans to work in Omaha—potentially in OPS or a community center—then move to Chile to teach English. He hopes to improve his Spanish and pursue translation or interpretation work.
