Visiting Scholar Begins a Second Year with UNO

Sharmila Seyyid, a Sri Lankan journalist, poet, and writer under threat of persecution and violence in her home country, has begun her second year as a Visiting Faculty Fellow at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.

UNO Soil Judging Team Places 3rd in Regional Competition

CAS Researchers Awarded New Grant on Recovering Indigenous Histories

Dr. Sarah E. Nelson, an Assistant Professor of Geography at UNO, was recently awarded a Research/ Creative Activity Grant on Recovering Indigenous Histories that will be used to further collaborative research with Dr. Barbara Robins, an Associate Professor of English, and Geography graduate student Natasha Winfield, “How Urban Development Erased Jefferson Square.”

New Study Takes Major Step in Pursuit of HIV Cure

While the standard treatment for HIV can hold the disease in check, a new study shows how experimental medicines can boost the body’s own ability to suppress the virus. An important step towards a cure, says researchers behind the study.

30 BOLD Fellows Participated in International Exchange

October 03, 2022

The BOLD Institute on Civic Engagement at UNO welcomed 30 young leaders to the United States for a five-week long residency. BOLD (Bosnia and Herzegovina Youth Leaders) is an international exchange program sponsored by the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo and focused on developing leaders, promoting international education, and positively impacting the region.
