Call for Art
Call for Student Artists
Who should apply: The exhibition is open to students currently enrolled at UNO. Group and individual applications will be accepted.
Subject Matter: No human figures shall be included in the proposed artwork. The imagery may reference the prairie environment and/or connect to nature or the outdoors.
Material requirements: This call is open to a range of materials appropriate for the outdoor environment. Artwork should be able to tolerate temperatures from -20 degrees to 110 degrees and withstand a full range of weather. Proposed artwork should not be over 10 feet tall. Examples include, but are not limited to:
- Metal, Ceramic, or Stone Sculptures: 3D works that are secured to the ground. Small concrete pads may be installed with approval from the Glacier Creek staff.
- Glass, Stone, or Ceramic Mosaics: installed on ground pathways or seating.
- Textiles and Fiber Art: Heavy-duty, weather-resistant installations designed for outdoor display.
Honorarium: $2,000
Proposal Submissions:

- CV or Resume (limit 2 pages)
- Artist Statement (limit 250 words)
- Proposal (limit 300 words)
- 5 images of previous work including title, year, size, and medium.
- Contact information for two professional references including name, email, phone, and your relationship to each.
General Information: Selected Artist is responsible for transportation of their artwork to Glacier Creek Preserve. Students will work alongside Preserve staff to select location and placement of artwork and must be present during installation.
Evaluation Criteria: Proposals will be evaluated on the following
- Artistic excellence and originality
- Responsiveness to the Preserve
- Experience completing public art projects
- Durability and general maintenance requirements
- Feasibility within the projected timeline
- Artwork must be capable of meeting safety requirements for a public outdoor space

Notification: November 20, 2026
Installation: June 2027

Call for Professional Artists
Who should apply: The exhibition is open to all artists, preferably professional sculptors, who are at least 18 years of age and reside in Omaha, NE or Council Bluffs, IA.
Subject Matter: The proposed artwork should not include depictions of the human form. The imagery may reference any aspect of the prairie environment and/or evoke a connection to the outdoors.
Material requirements: This call is open to a range of materials appropriate for the outdoor environment. Artwork should be able to tolerate temperatures from -20 degrees to 110 degrees and withstand a full range of weather. Proposed artwork should not be over 10 feet tall. Examples include, but are not limited to:
