About Nikki

Nikki Hecht, and Omaha native, grew up knowing all about UNO. Now an employee in the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, she loves all of the fun and energy that comes with being on campus. “I feel like I’m really a part of UNO,” she says. “I love all of the events, like Durango Days. It’s just so much fun.”

Nikki describes her role as being the “girl behind the emerald curtain.” She works hard to help students get everything they need lined up to become admitted students. As a current student herself, Nikki uses her own experiences to encourage and support students going through the admissions process. Whether it’s working with transcripts, personal statements, or speaking with students directly, she loves helping put the pieces together that ultimately end up in an acceptance letter to UNO.

Why is UNO so special to Nikki? “I love being here. I think we have the best campus. It’s big without making you feel like you’re lost,” she says. Students get a big college feel while still getting personal attention from faculty and staff. “Plus, we have a great hockey team!”
