Biography
Erica Shipman is the Director of Research Compliance. She is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of the university’s research compliance program. She manages research compliance activities across the campus, including conflict of interest review, research data security requirements, and regulatory screening for federally funded projects. She also provides guidance on U.S. export control regulations as they relate to research, international travel, and global collaborations.
Erica works closely with faculty, senior leadership, and administrative units to promote best practices in research integrity, ensure adherence to federal and sponsor regulations, and support a culture of ethics and accountability. She collaborates with Research ITS to evaluate and enhance data security controls for research projects and contributes to the development and refinement of institutional policies and procedures related to research compliance. Erica holds Export Compliance Professional (ECoP®) certifications in ITAR and EAR and is a member of the ORCA leadership team.
