Travel

Important Travel Information

Please ensure you have submitted copies of your passport, recent visas, dates of previous travel to the U.S., and proof of English proficiency to your program contact at your embassy. Once received, we will commence with processing your DS-2019 and arranging your travel to the U.S.

Travel Procedures

International and air travel has become increasingly difficult in recent years. Though we hope you will have a smooth experience, please be prepared for extensive security procedures. U.S. government entry procedures require that your photograph and fingerprints be taken upon entry into the U.S. If you have specific questions about this aspect of your trip, please be sure to speak with your contact at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate. Please read this information thoroughly before attending your pre-departure orientation session. This material, developed by the U.S. Department of State, will prepare you for your travel to the U.S. Here are some important web sites that may prepare you:

Travel Basics for Exchange Participants
U.S. Customs - Know Before You Go
Transportation Security Administration
Items Not Allowed on U.S. Airlines (TSA Guidelines)
Department of Homeland Security - Immigration and Borders
Department of Homeland Security - U.S. Visit Program

Your emergency contact in the U.S. is Sher Jan Ahmazai, cell phone 1-402-206-1172.
