Our Mission

  1. UNO
  2. Academic Affairs
  3. University Honors Program
  4. About Us

The Honors Program aligns itself with UNO's mission.

The Honors Program offers academically motivated, ambitious, curious students opportunities to further their educational and academic experiences at UNO. It does this through carefully selected Honors courses, designed to engage and challenge learning through their interdisciplinary content.

We seek high-potential students who want creative and learner-centered educational experiences and want to share a community with others from different backgrounds. Our holistic approach to admission considers the whole student, as revealed in application essays and resumes or CVs, while high school GPA and ACT scores are factors but not barriers to admission.

Honors Program Learning Outcomes

After completing the Honors curriculum, seniors graduating from the University Honors Program should:

  • synthesize information from different fields of knowledge creatively
  • engage in discussion meaningfully and respectfully
  • communicate fluidly
  • examine topics critically and reasonably
  • formulate ideas through thoughtful analysis, careful exploration, and inclusive partnerships

Mission Statement

The mission of the University of Nebraska at Omaha Honors Program is to provide an enhanced and supportive learning environment responsive to the educational needs of exceptionally motivated undergraduate students.

The Honors Program, housed in Academic Affairs, is led by a Director who is guided by University Committees with representatives from every college, appointed by their respective Deans.
