Dr. Broyhill was awarded an ICMA Local Government Fellowship with the Economic Development Department within the City of Rancho Cucamonga, California.
Her dissertation, “Housing, Trades, and Childcare: A Narrative Study of Economic Development in Rural Nebraska,” was a qualitative study applying the Narrative Policy Framework to gain understanding of economic development challenges from the viewpoint of economic development professionals in rural communities throughout her home state of Nebraska.
Prior to her Ph.D., Dr. Broyhill earned her BA in International Studies and MA in Political Science from the University of Nebraska. Between her BA and MA, she earned an international peacekeeping certification from the Austrian Centre for Peace and Conflict Resolution, and a middle school teaching certification with an ESL endorsement through the Texas Teaching Fellows.
Her diverse practitioner experience includes the areas of international economic development field research, program development/management, policy creation/analysis, teaching in K-12/higher education, student/educator support, and curriculum development.
Dr. Broyhill has taught university classes in American government, comparative politics, international relations, and English as a Second Language (ESL/ELL). Her research interests include comparative public policy, economic development, and government legitimacy—both locally and internationally.
