Alumni Update
Dr. Starke is an assistant professor in the School of Public Affairs at the University of Colorado Denver. His work broadly orbits around issues of democracy, identity, citizenship, and social equity. His research includes specific interests in vulnerable and traditionally marginalized populations, public service education, and liberation. Dr. Starke is the recipient of several awards and honors including the VCU Wilder Graduate Scholars Fellow, University of Nebraska Presidential Graduate Fellow, ASPA International Young Scholars Workshop Participant, ESC Emerging Engaged Scholar Award, and PAT-Net Fellow.Dr. Starke currently serves as member of the Public Administration Theory Network executive board. He has published in Administrative Theory & Praxis, Journal of Public Affairs Education, State and Local Government Review, Metropolitan Universities Journal, and several book chapters and technical reports.
Prior to coming to CU Denver, Dr. Starke worked as a human services practitioner engaging with public and private service providers. A native of Beaverdam, Virginia, he received his BS degrees in clinical psychology and human services from Old Dominion University, MPA from Virginia Commonwealth University, and PhD at the University of Nebraska. Most importantly, he is the proud uncle to several amazing human beings.
