Biography

Mr. Scott Vlasek serves as Director of the Aviation Institute at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where his association with the Institute spans more than 30 years as a student, staff member, faculty member, and administrator. He earned both his bachelor's and master's degrees from UNO and has served in numerous leadership roles within the Aviation Institute. His professional interests include collegiate aviation education, aviation program administration, general and business aviation, aviation safety, workforce development, flight training, emerging aviation technologies, and the development of industry partnerships that connect students with aviation careers. Throughout his career, Vlasek has emphasized student success, experiential learning, and creating opportunities that prepare the next generation of aviation professionals.

Professional Experience

Vlasek's professional service has included leadership roles with several aviation and university organizations. He currently serves as an Educator Trustee for the University Aviation Association. He served as National President of Alpha Eta Rho International Aviation Fraternity from 2020–2023 after serving as National Treasurer from 2014–2020. He also served on the National Intercollegiate Flying Association's Region VI Council and chaired its Planning Committee. His professional affiliations have included the National Business Aviation Association, Nebraska Business Aviation Association, Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and others. At UNO, Vlasek served as Faculty Advisor for the Flying Mavs/NIFA Flight Team from 2007–2023 and currently serves as Faculty Advisor for the UNO Chapter of Alpha Eta Rho.
