How to Become a STEM Educator

STEM Education Pathways
UNO is a national model for preparing P-12 teachers in STEM disciplines, allowing multiple pathways to become an educator. From a College of Education Teacher Education degree to a STEM discipline degree (such as Math, Physics, or Chemistry) with teacher certification to the Teacher Academy Project, a graduate program enabling students with a STEM bachelor’s degree to become a certified teacher, students have a variety of options in becoming a STEM educator. The University’s collaborative model allows for the maximum amount of students served and connected to real life applications for inquiry-based, active learning that proves most effective in classroom engagement.
STEM Concentration Master’s Degree
UNO Master’s in Secondary Education offers a concentration in STEM for secondary teachers. The STEM concentration provides teachers with the opportunity to focus on two areas of instruction. Teachers may select courses in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and STEM education. For more information please contact Dr. Sheryl McGlamery at smcglamery@unomaha.edu.
