Program Options

This program offers a Master of Science degree with a thesis option for individuals interested in a career in Student Affairs in Higher Education.

Master of Science (M.S.) in SAHE

The 39 credit hour MS with a concentration in SAHE includes coursework and field experiences for individuals interested in careers in higher education. Students entering the Student Affairs in Higher Education Program (SAHE) program will take two classes a semester (Fall, Spring, & Summer) for the duration of the program.

This concentration is not CACREP accredited.

Thesis Option

The thesis option includes an additional 6 hours of graduate credit applied to the 39 credit Student Affairs in higher education concentration. This option provides an opportunity to obtain experience in original research. Students considering this option should have a strong interest in research methodology and a specific content area of research interest.

A master’s thesis involves original research completed under specific guidelines and timelines. These include, but may not be limited to:

  • UNO Graduate Studies
  • UNO Counseling Department guidelines
  • Semester schedules
  • Schedules of thesis committee members
